Leveraging the comprehensive interdisciplinary resources of Tsinghua University, the School of Clinical Medicine collaborates with the Institute of Precision Medicine to draw on the expertise of its faculties from engineering, law, fine arts, and other disciplines. This collaboration aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents in the intersection of medicine with engineering, law, design, and other fields. It strengthens the development of corresponding interdisciplinary disciplines and establishes a distinctive talent growth path at Tsinghua University—the Clinical Medicine Interdisciplinary Talent Development Program. The program targets the cultivation of innovative talents in interdisciplinary fields, with a focus on fostering the ability to integrate “medicine +” and “+ medicine”. For students with a medical background, the program enhances their knowledge and skills in engineering-related disciplines, while for engineering students, it reinforces their knowhow in medical-related disciplines. The dual-mentor system also allows for clinical medical experts and professors from engineering disciplines to serve as joint mentors. Driven by clinical needs, the program leads students to carry out translational scientific research, with an effort to cultivate high-level innovative talents specialized in clinical translational scientific research and future leaders in clinical translational science.
