Key Research Areas
The School of Clinical Medicine focuses on major diseases that threaten people’s health, frontier scientific challenges, and key technological issues in clinical medicine. It coordinates resources from domestic and international partners to conduct organized scientific research with the goal of developing a clinically driven, cross-disciplinary research program that addresses pressing medical issues.

Program of Intelligent Healthcare Consortium
The School of Clinical Medicine places community health at the forefront. Utilizing Tsinghua’s Intelligent healthcare technology in an innovative and integrated manner, it involves local medical institutions at all levels to establish a new type of integrated, intelligent healthcare ecosystem. The aim is to provide residents with comprehensive healthcare services that span from the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of chronic diseases to the care for senior citizens. This will create a role model of an integrated healthcare consortium for both urban and county areas in line with the HealthyChina initiative.

Program of Precision Medicine for Liver Cancer
The School of Clinical Medicine leverages Tsinghua’s premier clinical, public health, and health management resources, as well as modern scientific and technological resources to address primary liver cancer, a significant health threat in China. To decrease incidence rates and improve survival rates, an action plan has been drafted that examines systematic approaches for liver cancer prevention and treatment with particular attention given to screening, early diagnosis, precision medicine, rehabilitation care, comprehensive management, whole life-cycle management, hierarchical diagnosis, treatment, and quality control. The liver cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment program, once applied to both county and urban demonstration bases aided with proper evaluation methods, will be enhanced and implemented nationwide.

Program of Life Monitoring and Support System Research
Targeting healthy, at-risk, unwell, and organ-failure populations, the School of Clinical Medicine utilizes cutting-edge intelligent biosensors, mobile networks, big data, intelligent computing, and bionic manufacturing in its systematic research and development of life-monitoring, regulating, supporting, and alternative technologies and equipment. They include (1) vital signs precision monitoring devices; (2) wearable health monitoring devices; (3) implantable and non-implantable neuromonitoring technologies; (4) cardiac interventional physiological monitoring technologies; (5) extracorporeal life support technologies; and (6) extracorporeal assistive organ functional support (ECMO ventilator, haemodialysis, bio-artificial liver).
