-2003-2005 Clinical work and postdoctoral research in Surgery, University of Alberta Hospital, Canada.

· 2005-2014 Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, General Surgery (Thyroid & Breast Specialty Group) – Promoted to Chief Physician in 2007.

· 2015-Present Transferred to Tsinghua Changgung Hospital.

Clinical expertise focuses on thyroid, breast, and hernia surgery:

· Thyroid Surgery:

o Implements intraoperative nerve monitoring, achieving a permanent recurrent laryngeal nerve injury rate of <1%.

o Performs fine-needle aspiration for thyroid nodules, with malignant cases accounting for >70% of surgeries.

o Pioneered in China the concept of active surveillance for select thyroid microcarcinomas and is collecting observational data on domestic patients.

· Breast Surgery:

o Introduced breast-conserving surgery (BCS) for breast cancer in the late 1990s, drawing on experience from Johns Hopkins Hospital.

o Now leads in oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery in China, combining tumor resection with plastic techniques to improve cosmetic outcomes. Current BCS rate: ~50% (among the highest nationally), with 5-year disease-free survival rates meeting international standards.

o Emphasizes standardized, personalized, patient-centered, and team-based comprehensive care. At Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, each breast cancer case undergoes multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussion, with follow-up coordinated by dedicated case managers (adapted from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan).
