Education Background / Work Experience

Graduated from the Third Military Medical University (Army Medical University) (1986). Received a Master’s degree from the PLA Postgraduate Medical School (301 Hospital) (Now Chinese PLA Medical School) (1992). Received a Doctorate from Capital Medical University (Beijing Tiantan Hospital) (1995).

Visiting scholar/postdoctoral fellow in Neurosurgery, University of Florida, USA (1995-1997).

Beijing Tiantan Hospital: Assistant to the President / Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery (2000 / 2004).

Tsinghua University Yuquan Hospital: President.

Clinical Expertise

Pediatric neurosurgery: pediatric brain tumors, hydrocephalus, congenital malformations, pediatric craniocerebral trauma, and pediatric cerebral hemorrhage. Particularly notable breakthroughs in the treatment of pediatric craniopharyngiomas, elevating surgical outcomes in China to internationally advanced levels.

Surgical and chemotherapeutic treatment of brain tumors, skull base/brainstem tumors, malignant gliomas, germ cell tumors, sellar tumors, and intraventricular tumors.

Cranial surgery and cognitive neuroscience, with a special focus on the impact of craniotomy on children’s intellectual development.

Academic Achievements

First in China to pioneer the “Posterior Fossa Surgery with Dural Suturing and Bone Flap Repositioning” technique (1997). Academician Wang Zhongcheng referred to it as a revolutionary neurosurgical technique.

Assisted Academician Wang Zhongcheng in founding the Chinese Congress of Neurological Surgeons of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association (2004).

Founded China’s first pediatric neurosurgery academic organization – the Pediatric Neurosurgery Expert Committee of the Chinese Congress of Neurological Surgeons of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association (2005).

Served as Editorial Director of Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery, which ranked fifth among all Chinese medical journals by impact factor (2008).

Founded the English-language journal Brain Science Advances in brain science in China.
