With nearly 40 years of experience in clinical practice and diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy, Dr. Huang is a renowned expert in digestive endoscopy in China, boasting profound expertise in the endoscopic treatment of pancreatobiliary diseases, early gastrointestinal cancer, and submucosal gastrointestinal tumors. Among his achievements, the duodenal papilloplasty pioneered by him at home and abroad has garnered high recognition from peers worldwide.
Dr. Huang has long been committed to the innovation and development of digestive endoscopic technologies. He holds 3 authorized invention patents and 15 national utility model patents as the first inventor. Some of these technologies have been successfully translated into products, with several obtaining the National Class II Medical Device Registration Certificate. His innovative duodenal papilloplasty has been recognized by the international digestive endoscopy community, with corresponding editorial reviews and reports published in GIE Video and DEN. Another innovative technology—the intraintestinal extended biliary stent—has been widely applied in China and achieved remarkable clinical outcomes. As a top domestic endoscopic expert, Dr. Huang has performed over 100 live endoscopic operation demonstrations at major domestic and international academic conferences in recent years, including the Belt and Road Endoscopy Training Program and the National Annual Congress of Digestive Endoscopy. He has also conducted multiple ERCP endoscopy training sessions in remote regions such as Tibet and Guizhou, cultivating a number of outstanding pancreatobiliary endoscopic physicians for these areas.
Dr. Huang has led 3 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as 3 projects supported by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission Health Cultivation Fund or the Capital Health Research and Development of Special Fund. His long-term research focuses on the clinical and applied basic studies of minimally invasive digestive endoscopic therapies, such as natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) and direct peroral cholangioscopy, as well as clinical research on pancreatobiliary diseases (e.g., idiopathic acute recurrent pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, benign and malignant biliary obstruction), and endoscopic treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer and precancerous lesions. In recent years, several of his innovative clinical research projects—including the hanging ultra-long biliary stent, endoscopic papilloplasty, and oral hormone gel for preventing esophageal stricture after extensive esophageal ESD—have been presented or exchanged at prestigious international conferences such as the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) and the Asia Pacific Digestive Week (APDW).
Dr. Huang serves as Standing Editorial Board Member and Editorial Board Member of multiple academic journals. He has presided over and participated in more than 20 national and provincial-level scientific research projects, and taken part in formulating 8 national guidelines and consensus statements on digestive endoscopy as a leading or contributing expert. He has also served as the chief translator, chief editor, co-translator, or co-editor for 20 Chinese and foreign monographs on digestive endoscopy.
