The Center was founded by academicians Jianbin LUO and Jiahong DONG. It brings together interdisciplinary expertise and resources from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Changgung Hospital, with a focus on making breakthroughs in the materials and working mechanisms of novel artificial heart-lung machines, along with other high-end medical equipment created by China. With the artificial heart-lung machine as its landmark project, the Centeris committed to the basic applied research of extracorporeal blood oxygenation and respiration, with a particular focus on innovations of advanced fundamental materials and mechanistic improvements. The center concentrates on developing technologies and tools like critical-care extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO2R), and Digital ALs for acute cardiorespiratory failure. This will achieve independent R&D and industrialization of a complete spectrum of high-end extracorporeal circulatory equipment, serving our people with convenient, reliable oxygenation technology and equipment.
