From September 8th to 19th, a delegation of five individuals from Singapore Biodesign – including innovation trainees, faculty, and team leaders – successfully completed a two-week clinical immersion in the Department of Cardiology at Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital. This marks the third consecutive year the hospital has served as the clinical immersion site for Singapore Biodesign.

Singapore Biodesign is a national-level medical technology innovation talent training program in Singapore. With a 14-year history, it is the sole Asian branch of Stanford University's Biodesign program. Focusing on medical-technology integration and innovation, the program involves a six-month full-time training. Trainees conduct field research in healthcare institutions across countries like Singapore, China, and the USA. Starting from clinical needs, they refine innovative ideas, ultimately aiming to develop commercialized products.

During this clinical immersion, besides observational learning in the Department of Cardiology, the hospital's Research Department also connected the trainees with researchers from the Endocrinology Department and ICU based on their interests. A variety of activities were organized, including a symposium between the hospital's researchers and the Singapore Biodesign team, visits to Tsinghua University's research platforms and the Beijing Medical Robot Industrial Innovation Center, and observation of the 7th Technological Innovation Competition. These activities enhanced the trainees' understanding of the development of China's healthcare industry.

In recent years, the collaboration between the hospital and Singapore Biodesign has deepened. In August this year, Tsinghua University signed a cooperation agreement with Singapore Biodesign, dispatching two excellent clinicians from the hospital to Singapore for a one-month Biodesign innovation training. They participated in courses covering clinical immersion, medical-technology integration, and intellectual property, thereby enhancing their skills in medical technological innovation.
Looking ahead, the hospital will strengthen communication and cooperation with Singapore Biodesign, incorporating the Biodesign model and philosophy into the technological development and talent cultivation of Tsinghua Medicine. This aims to foster the creation of more and better medical technology products from Tsinghua Medicine.
