Tsinghua University Chang Gung Hospital and Hong Kong Polytechnic University Join Hands to Boost Rehabilitation Medicine Development with MOU Signing

September 10, 2025 - The signing ceremony for a Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was held between the Tsinghua University Clinical Medicine School (Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital) and the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). This marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of rehabilitation medicine education and research.

The ceremony took place at the hospital. Professor Zhang Ping, Vice President of the hospital, and Professor Pang Yiu Chung, Head of PolyU's Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Chair Professor of Neurological Rehabilitation, delivered speeches representing their respective institutions.

Professor Zhang Ping stated that Hong Kong Polytechnic University has outstanding achievements in the fields of neurological rehabilitation and assistive technology research. This collaboration will further advance the development of rehabilitation medicine at the hospital. Both parties will engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as faculty exchanges, student cultivation, and scientific research, jointly exploring innovative models for education and research.

Professor Pang Yiu Chung pointed out that the signing of this MOU is an important milestone for the two distinguished institutions in education, scientific research, and talent cultivation. By joining hands, they will jointly promote the development of rehabilitation science, cultivate a new generation of healthcare professionals, and contribute wisdom and strength to addressing challenges in the global healthcare sector.

According to the MOU, the two sides will collaborate on faculty and talent exchanges, student training, and scientific research.

This signing represents the starting point of their collaboration. In the future, the two parties aim to cultivate rehabilitation medicine talents with a global perspective through interdisciplinary and cross-regional cooperation, promote the sustained development of rehabilitation science, and actively contribute to patient recovery and societal health and well-being.
